Laguna del Tesoro
The Treasure Lake is one of Cuba’s most majestic bodies of water with a unique story, an intriguing heritage and a natural beauty guaranteed to mesmerise. Laguna del Tesoro is a mere 5 kilometres from Boca de Guamá, a tourist resort which was built on a number of small islands to resemble a Taíno village.
The heritage of the region is significantly showcased in the sculpture park which depicts Taíno village people in a variety of poses. Aldea Taína
In the middle of the lake lies the reconstructed village of the Taíno American Indians. You can reach it with from La Boca with speed boats, that will take you through mangroves, bamboo and reed. The tour takes about 30 minutes. The construction consists of 25 statues of the Taínos and their reconstructed huts, to show visitors how they've lived. They were living from hunting, fishing and agriculture. If you want to stay over night, you can stay at one of the bungalows of the Hotel Villa Guanma.
Things to do and see near the Laguna del Tesoro
The most popular attraction nearby is the Criadero de Cocodrilos. This crocodile farm is a successful breeding farm, offering tours and talks on the variety of crocodile species and their habitats. From nature farms to historical villages and breath taking bodies of water - this is undeniably a region that has a lot to offer.

There also opportunities for diving at the coast of Zapata. You can start directly at the coast and don't need a boat. The main attraction under water are the sea cows, which can grow up to four meters and weigh 600kg.
