Itinerary
Welcome to Costa Rica! Arrive in San José at any time today. We would gladly pick you up at the airport and drive you to the first hotel but you can also choose to arrange your own transportation. Check into our hotel and start exploring and enjoying this remarkable city. Stroll through the pedestrian zone, visite one of the museums or just relax in one of the beautiful parks.

At 8:00 am you will meet your tour- leader. The guide will take you to the first destination, the Volcán Irazú National Park, where you will go for hike. Before you will arrive to San Gerardo de Dota, you will stop for a visit of the colonial city Cartago. After a circuit in the beautiful city, you will continue to San Gerardo de Doto. The idyllic village is surrounded of mountains and forests in Costa Ricas highlands. Here it could be a bit colder - the average temperature is round about 13° degrees. The rest of the day is at your own disposal. Go for a walk through the village, hike to the nearby waterfall or enjoy the amazing view out of your hotel. In the evening a typical dinner awaits you.

The ever-wet cloud forests of Central America are home to the mystical bird Quetzal, which was already worshipped by the Mayas. Today, the Quetzal is threatened by extinction and difficult to spot in its natural habitat.
If you get up early, you have the best chance. Go on a tour through the municipality of San Gerardo de Dota to discover one of the rare birds (optional).
Your journey takes you to the Manuel Antonio National Park. It was established in 1972, extends along the Pacific coast and adjacent to the land area is 55,000 ha in the sea. It is one of the most visited national parks in Costa Rica. Half an hour from the national park is located Isla Damas, there you will go on a boat tour through the mangroves. A unique ecosystem and a variety of wildlife await you there. Our local guide knows a lot about the flora and fauna of the mangroves. Visit today one of the most famous national parks of Costa Rica, the ""Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio"". The main attractions are the four gorgeous sandy beaches at the pacific coast. The endangered squirrel monkeys as well as capuchin monkeys, sloths, raccoons and coatis live here. You can discover the park on varios hiking trails and enjoy a fantastic panoramic view from several vantage points (optional). Or just spend the day relaxing on the beach.

After breakfast the journey takes you to the north west of Costa Rica, where the hilly landscape of Monteverde, surrounded by fog, awaits you. In the afternoon you could visit a farm of a local family. During a walk through sugar cane, banana and coffee plantations you will learn interesting things about the cultivation and processing of these products and of course you can taste some of these typical Costa Rican foods directly (visit optional).

Today you visit the Bosque Eterno de los Niños (Children´s Eternal Rain Forest), the biggest private sanctuary in Costa Rica, which was founded in 1980s thanks to a fundraising campaign of Swedish primary school pupils. The sanctuary is one of the last retreats of the jaguar. The chances of discovering a specimen during your walk along the Bajo del Tigre trail are rather poor. You will certainly be able to oberseve various exotic birds such as Motmot, Laucharassari and Manakin. You can arrange the afternoon according to your own ideas.

Today´s destination is La Fortuna de San Carlos, a small touristic village submontane of the Arenal volcano. The trip leads first to the shore of the Lake Arenal and then by boat to the other side of the lake.
If the weather is good you can already enjoy the first view to the volcano. In the evening we will go together for a night walk. Spend the day as you wish. A visit of the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge is highly recommended. You can also choose from a variety of other activities such as wildwater rafting, hiking tours, abseiling, canopy- tours etc. Your guide will help you with the booking so that you can experience Costa Rica close and actively! In the evening you can take a bath in the natural thermal springs (activities optional).

Today the journey through Costa Rica ends.
